Marvellous Codeworks
Quick links πβ
The Marvellous Suspender
Suspends inactive tabs and keeps sessions, backups and repair tools at hand.
The Great-er Tab Discarder
A lighter take on the same idea, built on Chrome's native tab discarding.
logdrop
A self-hosted drop-off for sharing diagnostic reports privately.
Who We Are π§ββοΈβ
Marvellous Codeworks was created to provide a home for The Marvellous Suspender and The Great-er Tab Discarder, Google Chrome extensions that originated as forks of abandoned projects or - worse still, as in the case of TMS, were sold to a third party that injected malicious code into one of the most popular extensions on the market.
Even today, despite its best efforts and numerous targeted improvements, Google Chrome is still unable to make efficient use of a PCβs RAM when multiple tabs are open at the same time. The Marvellous Suspender (TMS) and The Great-er Tab Discarder (TGD) address this very issue, attempting to patch things up and thus curb the voracious appetite of Googleβs browser.
TMS and TGD remain the two flagship projects, but Marvellous Codeworks has grown beyond them: logdrop, a self-hosted, PrivateBin-style drop-off for sharing diagnostic reports and other plain text privately, is one such tool, built to support TMS's own diagnostics but usable on its own (see the logdrop documentation).
As the driving forces behind these projects, Gioxx and Rob work behind the scenes to keep them moving forward, relying on the cooperation and trust of the users.
Contributing πβ
The Great-er Tab Discarder, The Marvellous Suspender and, in general, every Marvellous Codeworks project is an open source project. All projects, as well as the documentation and all related tools, are available on GitHub.
All our projects are open to code contributions, including feature requests, bug reports, and pull requests. For TMS specifically, see the Contributing page for the rules a pull request has to meet, how to report a vulnerability privately, and the project's policy on AI-assisted contributions.
License π€β
Unless otherwise specified, we have adopted (inherited, and are therefore required to maintain) the GNU General Public License v2.0.
This applies to both The Marvellous Suspender and The Great-er Tab Discarder. The license is also available in both repositories (TGD, TMS). Other tools may use a different license, check the project's own repository, e.g. logdrop is AGPL-3.0.

Something missing? π΅οΈββοΈβ
If you encounter any issues with the documentation or have suggestions on how to improve it, please report the issue using the appropriate extensionβs repository (for example: if the issue relates to TMS documentation, use The Marvellous Suspenderβs repository, and so on).
Support πβ
All our projects are offered free of charge and as open source to users who wish to use them. If you encounter any problems or have any questions, the GitHub repositories for the individual projects are good places to go for help. There is no preferential support channel and/or dedicated commercial support channel at this time, nor are there any plans to create one, at least for now.
